Chaplain Rob Dewey began the Lowcountry Community Chaplaincy in March 2017. This 501c3 nonprofit ministry builds off the ministry of the Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy, which he founded in 1990. Lowcountry Community Chaplaincy serves the personnel for all police, fire and EMS agencies and the citizens of the coastal area of South Carolina.
Rev. Dewey served as a chaplain for the FBI for 24 years, having top-security clearance. In 2015, he was the lead chaplain for the FBI. He also continues to serve as a chaplain with S.C. State Law Enforcement Division, state Department of Natural Resources, the S.C. Disaster Mortuary Operational Team (DMORT) and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).
Rev. Dewey is married to Kathy Rentiers Dewey. As a hobby, he creates stained glass.
This new ministry provides the opportunity to build a ministry which envisions carrying and coordinating ministries for the general public.
